A transport commissioning agent (commissionnaire de transport) organises the end-to-end journey and commits to the result in its own name: it selects the carriers, warrants them and answers to you. A freight forwarder is your specialist of international operations: transport documents, customs clearance, port and airport handling. At ECORYS both crafts work together — the commissioning agent's commitment, the forwarder's documentary expertise.
Incoterms define who — buyer or seller — pays for and is responsible for the goods at each stage of international transport (EXW, FOB, CIF, DAP, DDP…).
